Data Architect V  

 

Scope

The Command & Control Systems (C2S) Group is seeking an experienced Data Architect V to support the 4th Signal Center (Theater) residing in primary locations at Hawaii & Alaska USA and Okinawa, Japan as part of the Pacific-Theater Network Operations Security Center (PAC-TNOSC).   The Data Architect V will be part of the computer network defense (CND) and security services team that will ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the information and systems used in planning, coordinating, directing, controlling, and sustaining military forces.

The Data Architect V will define database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation. The candidate will provide technical consulting in the defining, designing, and creation of a database environment, and advise management and end users on database solutions. The Data Architect V will analyze, design, implement, and support business applications, data architectures, database management system, facilities and capabilities, security, and the operation and tuning of databases.

 

General Duties

Direct operational responsibility to:

  • Serve as lead architect with PAC-TNOSC users and developers to provide expert-level support in the design and maintenance of the database changes for complex applications that meet the PAC-TNOSC operational requirements
  • Interact with the development team and end-user personnel, oversee requirements gathering sessions with internal and external customers and translate into technical specifications
  • Design, implement and maintain complex databases, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation that maximize the performance of the database
  • Load and extract data from Oracle tables for ad hoc user requests and projects
  • Provide capability to access, correlate, and report relevant mission data through application of the Oracle development environment
  • Support, manage and coordinate development of web-based interfaces, applications and tools that support the PAC-TNOSC operational mission
  • Provide testing and migration support of solutions through Oracle instances to ensure the continuity
  • Develop layered defense of procedures relating to database and application security including procedures by which access is authorized, enabled, changed and withdrawn
  • Support the analysis and design of data stores required by various management platforms that collect network and security-related telemetry data relevant to the ongoing operational status of the Top Level Architecture (TLA) management tools and technologies
Required Qualifications
  • Must have 5+ years of Database , Security and Systems Administration related experience
  • Must be IAT-III (CISSP) Certified
  • Must be Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Must have familiarity with a wide variety of computer applications and operating systems in a mixed Solaris, Linux and Microsoft Network Operating System infrastructure
  • Must have served as Oracle 10g or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator for 2+ years
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of Oracle 10g, SQL Query, embedded SQL, and supporting application and development environment
  • Must possess exceptional communication and written skills and with extensive experience working with senior customers
  • Must possess an active Secret Clearance
  • Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING MAJOR)

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Science or Mathematics (or equivalent experience)

 

Desired Qualifications
  • Additional database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 or MySQL will be a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot a wide array of database problems in a multi-platform and distributed environment
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment with short timelines
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain high quality work to manage multiple critical projects
