Scope

The Command & Control Systems (C2S) Group is seeking an experienced Email/Notes Group Director to support the 4th Signal Center (Theater) residing in primary locations at Hawaii & Alaska USA and Okinawa, Japan as part of the Pacific-Theater Network Operations Security Center (PAC-TNOSC).   The Email/Notes Group Director will be part of the computer network defense (CND) and security services team that will ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the information and systems used in planning, coordinating, directing, controlling, and sustaining military forces.


The Email/Notes Group Director shall be responsible for maintaining the e-mail servers, resources of e-mail files, storage, security and data integrity, and control procedures for a complex system of networked computers or for a single group of microcomputers linked to a host workstation, or mainframe.  The candidate will manage and monitor user accounts password, resources, back up files as required and work with management to define requests for information.  Working closely with other IT staff members, the Email/Notes Group Director will identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex and difficult network and e-mail related problems.  Maintain and update system security plans on all platforms within the 4th Signal Center for the Pacific-Theater Network Operation and Security Center.

 

General Duties

Direct operational responsibility to:

  • Perform day-to-day operation of computer networks, hardware/software support, training, file system and participate in special projects
  • Monitor network and e-mail security, stability, system performance and perform the daily backup - ensuring 24x7 operations and resolving service impacts as they occur
  • Monitor e-mail services and accounts; provide training and support to all end-users
  • Respond, identify, prioritize, and isolate, the determination and resolution of significant mail server problem events through the use of management tools, test equipment and/or the system diagnostic capabilities
  • Discover and investigate suspect behavior, including application performance and availability analysis
  • Implement and coordinate network/system/e-mail policies, procedures, standards, patches, and enforces security policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented operating system, e-mail server applications and hardware baselines
  • Manage and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Direct, supervise, and mentor a small team of Information Technology administrators
Required Qualifications
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in Applications Administration
  • Must be IAT-II (Security+) Certified
  • Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCSA) on Microsoft Office Outlook
  • Must have experiences on wide array of server grade applications include Microsoft Exchange Server, DNS, SMTP, IIS, Apache, SharePoint, Active Directory, Identity Management, Patch Management, LDAP, and security products such as Virus Scan, Host Intrusion Prevention, Secure Web and Email Gateways, and Policy Auditor products
  • Must have experience with a wide variety of computer applications and operating systems in a mixed Solaris, Linux and Microsoft Network Operating System infrastructure
  • Ability to work on computer for a long period to troubleshoot a wide array of system, networking, software, and hardware problems
  • Must possess exceptional teaming skills and will have extensive experience working with senior customers
  • Must possess an active Secret Clearance  
  • Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING MAJOR)

  • Strong academic background with Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Science or Mathematics (or equivalent work experience)
Desired Qualifications
  • Should have experience in project management, personnel management, and risk management
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (LSS), ISO-IEC Certification for Information Technology Service Management or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment with short timelines
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain high quality work to manage multiple critical projects
  • Ability to perform and participate in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of network users
