Job Description

Experienced Senior Data Network Engineer- WAN (SDNE) to support classified networks for the military throughout Iraq. The position will be located at Camp Victory – Baghdad, Iraq. The Tier three Network Engineer duties will consist of being an escalation point for operations and some engineering tasks.

As an escalation point, the Tier three engineer will be responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance, upgrade and problem determination and resolution of the theater classified and unclassified WAN.

Engineering responsibility is for operational engineering where requirements were gathered from the network operations center and not changing the architecture or original design intent. Also, Tier three Engineers are responsible for implementing new engineering projects received from the network architectural cell.

The person will be involved in numerous engineering projects and activities that will include: design, configuration, installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of multiple classified and unclassified networks. The position requires SENIOR level understanding / experience with BGP, VPN’s, ACL’s, MPLS, IP, VoIP, Switching, SNMP, H.323, NAT, ICMP, OSPF, ISIS, EIGRP, and other complex routing architectures.

Person must have Enterprise level knowledge in Routing, Design, Configuration, Troubleshooting and Support of mid to large sized network environments. Experience working with and managing BGP, EIGRP, ISIS is a must.

They must be flexible and creative in adapting to environments where functional and operational objectives evolve and change rapidly. This is a very fast-paced environment.
The candidate will work under the immediate supervision of a military shift leader or other contract personnel designated by the PM. The candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

General Duties

• Work with teams of routing and switching experts designing, installing, maintaining and repairing all layer 3 routing devices
• Install, maintain and repair all layer 3 routing, physical layer and fiber optic architectures.
• In-depth Routing Protocol knowledge to include RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, and ISIS.
• Perform detailed troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of Cisco devices, Cisco-based VPN, and network encryption.
• Perform detailed troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of KG-175 TACLANE network encryption devices.
• Perform detailed troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of Cisco ACS, CiscoWorks, SolarWinds network monitoring suite including SolarWinds engineer's edition and all associated toolsets.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency with Microsoft troubleshooting tools such as PING, NETSTAT, NBTSTAT, TRACEROUTE, IPCONFIG and ARP.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency in the repair and construction of CAT-5, CAT-5e and CAT-6 straight-thru and crossover connectors and know how CAT-5 twisted-pair works.
• Coordinate with other contractors to repair and make improvements to both the physical and logical WAN infrastructure.
• Document network configurations and diagrams.
• Detailed understanding of the function of SIPR and NIPR net
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Must have 4-6 years experience with DoD networks, WAN troubleshooting and related equipment to include the use of sniffers, network monitoring tools, etc.

Person is required to be a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Must hold a US SECRET security clearance

Desired Qualifications

CCIE, SATCOM, E1, LOS, Tropo, TACLANE, PIX Firewalls, Cisco IDS, VPN (IPSEC tunnels), GRE, ACL’s, MPLS, VoIP, SNMP

Required Education

A minimum Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or at least 5 years of related technical experience is required.
