Happy Retirement Gary

We would like to celebrate and honor the service-centered career of an outstanding American Airman, Knowledge Expert, and Leader in the NORAD/USNORTHCOM community. Thank you, Gary, for striving daily over the past 50 years to promote the successful execution of the Armed Forces mission to secure the peace and prosperity of our United States. We wish you all the blessings retirement can offer!

Gary Gunther grew up in North Dakota and graduated from the U. S. Air Force Academy in 1972 as a member of the 14th graduating class. Having spent 23 years on active duty in the Air Force, Gary retired in 1995. He could not stay away from the work he loved, however. Gary stated, “I retired on a Friday and came back to work, in the then USSPACECOM Special Activities Branch at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), on the following Monday. I was one of those guys.”

On June first of this year (2020) Gary celebrated his 29th continuous year working in Cheyenne Mountain, at the same job, almost at the same desk. Gary worked for six different company’s at SPACECOM/NORTHCOM performing consistent services throughout. Gary has been responsible for leading a team of twelve Subject Matter Experts and Analysts that provide critical communication services for U.S Joint Major Commands.

Gary realizes his success did not occur in a vacuum, and had this to say about his team “I owe all of the team’s success to my guys as they have always been the ‘can do’ team and the customer knows they can and do count on them to do it right the first time! Thanks to all of the INTECON staff who have supported us over these years and a special thanks to my teammates who have made this team so successful for so many years! I will miss all of you; because it’s the people, not the job, that makes coming to work every day worthwhile!”
